The GE High Voltage Gate Interface Board DS200FHVAG1A is an interface between the SCR bridge and the LCI power converter and also provides cell monitoring functions to the LCI power converter. The DS200FHVAG1A board has 1 fiber optic transmission connector. It is used for transmitting status information to a fiber optic network. Fiber optic networks provide valuable features to a manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing environments often contain high-voltage cables, multiple signal cables, grounding wires, and serial networks, and other connections. The fiber optic networks do not pick up interference from other cables and can be bundled, even with high-voltage 3-phase cables. This is especially valuable in tight spaces where it is impossible to provide the space between cables to avoid interference.

Long distance runs is another feature of the fiber optic networks. You are not limited in the distance between equipment that networks using copper cables encounters. In fact, you can add repeaters to a fiber optic network that enables you to double the length of the fiber optic cables.

The connector for the fiber optic cable requires some consideration. If you plan to remove the fiber optic cable from the connector for 1 hour or longer, install a plug over the connector to prevent a buildup of dust or dirt. This is especially true in dusty conditions. You will notice the signal is degraded if the connector is left open and dust settles on the connector. Carefully remove any build up of dust if you encounter a drop in signal quality.
