Details
The NMBA-01 Modbus adapter module is one of the optional fieldbus adapters for ABB's drive products.
NMBA-01 is a device that allows ABB's drive products to connect to the Modbus serial communication bus.
A data set is a set of data transmitted between the NMBA-01 module and the drive through the DDCS link. Each data set consists of three 16-bit words (i.e. data words).
A control word (sometimes called a command word) and a status word, a given value and an actual value are all data words: the content of some data words is user-definable.
Modbus is an asynchronous serial protocol. The Modbus protocol does not specify a physical interface, and typical physical interfaces are RS-232 and RS-485. NMBA-01 uses an RS-485 interface.
The NMBA-01 Modbus adapter module is an optional component of ABB drives, which enables the connection between the drive and the Modbus system. In a Modbus network, the drive is considered a slave. Through the NMBA-01 Modbus adapter module, we can:
Send control commands to the drive (start, stop, allow operation, etc.).
Send a speed or torque reference signal to the transmission.
Send a reference signal and actual value signal to the PID regulator in the transmission. Read status information and actual values from the transmission.
Change transmission parameters.
Reset the transmission fault.
Perform multi-drive control.
